Martin's Freeman gets 38 points in setback to Freed-Hardeman

Erin Freeman led all scorers with 38 points, though Martin Methodist College fell 62-59 to visiting Freed-Hardeman University in a non conference women’s basketball battle Feb, 6

A former Giles County High School basketball standout, Freeman scored just over a point per minute. She shot 16 of 27 from the field.

Another ex Giles County High standout, Taylor McNairy, had nine points to go with five rebounds.

Freed-Hardeman, which has moved to the National Collegiate Athletic Association, led 25-22 at halftime. Martin, a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics school, led 37-35 after three quarters.

For Freed-Hardeman, Alyssa LeMay had 30 points and 12 rebounds. Also getting a double-double was Caroline Chambers with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Freed-Hardeman had 18 turnovers to Martin’s 11 and hit 20 of 28 free throws. Of 11 tries, Martin hit seven.
