Martin Second Half Rally Falls Short Against Thomas More

The Martin Methodist College RedHawks made a second half run before falling 78-63 to visiting Thomas More Jan. 31.

With the defeat Thomas More, ranked 20th in the NAIA, improved to 12-4 overall, 10-4 in the Mid-South Athletic Conference. Martin dropped to 7-7 in the conference, 11-7 overall.

Thomas More led by 23 points in the first half, 38-20 at halftime, and, with 10:58 left in the second half, by 11 points. With more than six minutes left, Martin had closed to 58-50 on Adarion Hudson’s field goal, the closest Martin came.

Hudson finished with a team-leading 16 points, and Darrin Jenkins added 15 points for Martin.

Jenkins had five rebounds, while Martin was outrebounded 38-21.

Reid Jelly had 26 points and Luke Rudy 20 points for Thomas More. Ryan Batte added 11 points and Garren Bertsch 10 points.
