Opponent Overtakes RedHawks Late

After leading much of the game, the Martin Methodist College RedHawk women were outscored 25-6 in the fourth quarter, falling 61-50 to visiting Thomas More Jan 31.

The loss left Martin 3-9 overall, 2-9 in the Mid-South Athletic Conference, while Thomas More improved to 18-1 overall, 13-1 in the conference.

Thomas More, ranked fourth in the NAIA, trailed its unranked foe 44-36 after three periods.

Faith Sherrow led Martin with 15 points, Nicole Shirley added eight.

Former Giles County High standout Erin Freeman had four points and as many steals and assists. Taylor McNairy, another former GCHS standout, scored six points, had three assists and two steals, also for Martin.

Courtney Hurst led Thomas More with 15 points.
